About me

Brandon WilliamsCraig Ph.D. is co-founder and President of San Francisco Bay Area nonprofit, Association Building Community. As ABC's principal he has provided leadership and facilitator training, conflict management, mediation services, organizational change facilitation, and strategic consulting and development since 1999. Brandon helps dedicated people move through conflicts into performance-oriented teamwork and relationally sustainable practices for both shareholder driven and social benefit enterprises.

Brandon Sensei is a 5th degree aikido blackbelt and created and served as Chief Instructor of Free Aiki Dojo in Berkeley, CA. There he offered not only traditional aikido training but somatic extensions of "aiki" metaphors into his conflict facilitation method, called Martial Nonviolence (MNv). In 2010 he became Chief Instructor of Golden Bears Aikido at UC Berkeley to serve teachers, students, and staff exploring the intersection of the liberal and body arts. When he teaches MNv as a site specific, custom-designed curriculum, it develops into what we call Peace Practices. Peace Practices grew into a new phase, most recently, at Pacific Rim International School in Emeryville and San Mateo, and Beacon Day School in Oakland, and was introduced into the Pacifica Graduate Institute curriculum in 2017 and 2018.

Brandon was born in Dallas, Texas, and educated by Montessorians and Jesuits. His first career, from his sixth year into adulthood, was in the professional regional and touring theater. Brandon emigrated to California to be a full-time, residential aikido apprentice for two years, completed professional process arts facilitation certifications, particularly in mediation and community building, acquired graduate degrees in mythology and psychology, became a husband and then a father. He now resides and works in Dallas, Texas, and accepts community and corporate requests for global consulting and training engagements.

Peace practices, community building and conflict facilitation; mediation and negotiation; social benefit organizing and administration, ensemble creation, and team building; spoken and media-based communications and performance; academic learning and administration; supervision and management.
