Bella,
Thanks SO much for checking in! This is a draft of the email we plan to
send to everybody, hoping to answer their many questions. Would you mind
looking it over and giving me feedback? I'd like to send it tomorrow or the
next day.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Brandon
Keep Peace Practices at PRINTS
*Peace Practices needs your support to continue!*
Dear PRINTS Families,
Your children are changing the world for the better. By training in the
Peace Practices community at PRINTS, a successful two-year partnership thus
far, they are learning Conflict Done Well and preparing for a peaceful
future in a training community that includes students and faculty at UC
Berkeley, business people, artists, civil servants, and disabled men of
color in downtown Oakland, elders and activists, and more. Please watch
videos of children from PRINTS (and beyond) below to see the ways the world
has changed!
This school year, we are also working with Beacon Day School in Oakland
, and loving our
new relationships with the children, staff, and families there. A charter
school in the South Bay has proposed to their school board that we provide
our full program in 2017-18 to their staff and community of children drawn
entirely from the foster care and juvenile justice systems. This is the
kind of work that can make a real and lasting difference in the world, but
only if it flourishes and expands.
In order to focus on making the curriculum a success for our students, our
priority has been proof of concept, *providing Peace Practices to PRINTS
children for two years at no cost*, rather than fundraising, made possible
in part through funding from an international foundation. We just learned
that our promised third year of international funding will not be
forthcoming, due to internal issues within the foundation on which we have
relied. We may receive some reduced assistance later this Fall, but that is
uncertain, at best. Earlier this year, we let PRINTS families know that
their financial support would be required for the program to continue. Now
is the time to signal your support. *We can't begin at your child's campus
until we have enough family commitments.*
In order to support the program as a whole, I urge you to become a
significant donor to our 501c3, Association Building Community, and
volunteer to help us raise sustainable funding. You may pay only for your
child's peace education through December but, if we do not fund the program
as a whole we will probably be forced to close our doors at that time. The
future of training for Peace is in your hands.
*We must ask that every family donate to Peace Practices*. If you want
Peace Practices to continue, both at PRINTS and in the world, now is the
time to offer ongoing support:
- *Annual Option: **one donation of $450 per year* for the 2016-17
school year. To submit your donation in the amount of *$450* click here.

for another year of Peace Practices, she loved it so much. Thank you for
all that you do with the kids and in the community.

Bob,
Thanks, more than I can adequately express, for reaching out. Further
process is required to include you on the Board, where I would like to ask
you to serve, but I hereby accept the offer of support on both the
individual and organizational level. I'll have a draft of a personal appeal
to you shortly, and ask for feedback while responding to your query.
Regarding your core skills, we are in need of some clear administrative and
financial thinking, about which I hope for your ongoing input, and it would
make a huge difference to me just to know that you will consider and give
us the benefit of your best judgment regarding the decisions we are making
right now. May I call you later this week from Oregon to start the
discussion? We leave on Tuesday, and come back on the 29th or 30th.
With gratitude,
Brandon

Bella,
Two things:
1) We've been working with Kaiya on keeping focus through Peace Practices
class. When she hits a challenge of some kind, she tends to take cues from
whichever younger child is testing limits at the moment and head for the
window, grab materials off the shelves, or spend time off the mat. Will you
have a word with her about the value you think she can get from having fun
with us all the way through class, even when she doesn't feel like it at
the moment? Last class, in particular, she seemed really glad that she
stayed all the way through and got to participate in all the games at the
end. Please let me know what you think about all this.
2) We've been allowing maximum flexibility when it comes to monthly payment
for Peace Practices, but really need to ask for a check for the training
November through March. At $45/mo that would be $225 to Association
Building Community sent to us at 1540 Broadway, Oakland, 94612. If we have
a misunderstanding, please allow me to apologize and clear it up as soon as
possible. As soon as possible, please visit http://abcglobal.net/Keep_Peace_
Practices_at_PRINTS and use the Subscribe button to set up an ongoing
payment.
Really appreciating Kaiya's creativity and your continuing support,
Brandon
Jin and Bella,
I just sent a message to Bella with the wrong month in our payment request.
Really sorry about that. Please let this message replace that one.

2) Apologies again for the error. Please send us a check for training

Thanks!
Brandon
Jin and Bella,
I'm hoping to hear from you about both of the items below. Please let me
know that I have the correct addresses for you. When I don't hear back, I
can't be sure if I'm reaching you.
Hoping to hear from you soon,
Brandon
