Background and pages of note...
Brandon WilliamsCraig Ph.D. is co-founder and President of Oakland nonprofit, Association Building Community. As ABC's principal he has provided leadership and facilitator training, conflict management, mediation services, organizational change facilitation, and strategic consulting and development since 1999. Brandon helps dedicated people move through conflicts into performance-oriented teamwork and relationally sustainable practices for both shareholder driven and social benefit enterprises.
Brandon Sensei is a 5th degree aikido blackbelt and created and serves as Chief Instructor of Free Aiki Dojo in Berkeley, CA. There he continues to offer not only traditional aikido training but an extension of "aiki" metaphors into his conflict facilitation method, called Martial Nonviolence (MNv). In 2010 he became Chief Instructor of Golden Bears Aikido at UC Berkeley to serve teachers, students, and staff exploring the intersection of the liberal and martial arts. When he teaches MNv as a site specific, custom-designed curriculum, it develops into what we call Peace Practices. Currently Peace Practices are in progress at Pacific Rim International School campuses in Emeryville and San Mateo, CA and opening to the larger California and national platforms. Brandon created an administration and the position of Executive Director for Aiki Extensions, an international peace organization where he continues to serve on the Board of Directors.
Brandon was born in Dallas, Texas, and educated by Montessorians and Jesuits. His first career, from his sixth year into early adulthood, was in the professional regional and touring theater. Brandon emigrated to California to be a full-time, residential aikido apprentice for two years, completed professional process arts facilitation certifications, particularly in mediation and community building, acquired graduate degrees in mythology and psychology, became a husband and then a father. He resides and works most frequently in the San Francisco Bay Area and, while his children are in the single digits, is available for limited global engagements for consulting and training.
